​Q: When should I book my newborn photography session?

A: The best time to book your newborn photography session is during your second or third trimester, ideally after your 20 week scan. You reserve your due date in my diary and schedule the fixed date for the session once your baby arrives. Newborn sessions are scheduled Monday-Thursday starting at 10am.

 

Q: What is the best age for newborn photos?

A: Newborn photos are ideally taken within the first 5–14 days after birth. During this time, babies are typically sleepier and naturally curl into those classic newborn poses.

 

Q: Where do newborn photography sessions take place?

A: Newborn sessions with Tyler Bannister Photography take place in my studio in Coventry. 

 

Q: How long does a newborn photography session last?

A: Most newborn photography sessions last between 2–4 hours. This allows plenty of time for feeding, soothing, cuddles, and safely posing your baby without rushing. A Newborn Mini session is a shorter session lasting up to 1 hour 30 minutes.

 

Q: Can parents and siblings be included in a newborn session?

A: Family images are an important part of your newborn session and are included with a Newborn Family session. 

 

Q: What should my baby wear for newborn photos?

A: Tyler Bannister Photography provides wraps, and carefully selected newborn outfits and accessories. You do not need to bring anything for your baby to wear unless you have a special or sentimental outfit or accessory that you would like your baby to wear. 

 

Q: What should parents wear for a Newborn Family session?

A: Neutral coloured clothing such as cream, beige, white, grey, and earthy tones soft textures with photograph beautifully, but this will also depend on the chosen backdrop colour. Above all, choose clothing that you feel comfortable and confident in. I recommend avoiding busy patterns, big logos and characters, and bright colours. Q: Which newborn session is right for me? 

​A: Newborn Mini: Your baby will be wrapped snugly and positioned peacefully in carefully selected props i.e., baskets, bowls and buckets. Newborn Full: Your baby will be wrapped snugly and positioned peacefully in carefully selected props i.e., baskets, bowls and buckets AND delicately posed on a comfortable, supportive padded table covered in soft fabric.​ Newborn Family: Includes everything in the 'Newborn Full' session PLUS parents and siblings. A combination of family photographs are taken; on a plain background in a fine-art portrait style, and then as a side-profile silhouette. 

 

Q: Is newborn photography safe?

A: Yes. Safety is always the my top priority. Every pose is done gently and safely, with your baby’s comfort and wellbeing guiding the entire session.

 

Q: What happens if my baby won’t sleep during the session?

A: Newborn sessions are baby-led, allowing time for feeding, cuddling, and settling to sleep. However, it's completely normal that sometimes a baby is wide awake and we just go with it, as awake newborn portraits are beautiful too. Also, your baby will eventually fall asleep.

Q: How soon will we receive our newborn photos?

A: Your soft-edited newborn preview gallery is delivered within 1 week after your session. Once you have selected your image package and payment has been received, your final gallery will be ready within 2 weeks for download, printing, and sharing.

 

Q: Do you provide props and wraps for newborn photography?

A: Yes. Tyler Bannister Photography provides a selection of wraps, headbands, bonnets, and mini-teddies for your baby to hold, for use within your session.

 

Q: Can newborn photos be taken after 2 weeks old?

A: Yes. While the first 2 weeks are ideal for posed newborn photography, beautiful newborn portraits can still be created with older babies up to 6 weeks old using a more natural and relaxed approach.
