FAQs: Maternity
Studio in Coventry
Q: When is the best time to book a maternity photography session?
A: The best time to book your maternity session is during your second trimester to ensure availability around your ideal session date.
Q: When should maternity photos be taken?
A: Maternity photography sessions are typically scheduled between 30–36 weeks of pregnancy, when your bump is beautifully visible but you’re still relatively comfortable moving around.
Q: Where do maternity photography sessions take place?
A: Maternity sessions with Tyler Bannister Photography take place in my studio in Coventry.
Q: Do you provide maternity dresses or styling guidance?
A: Yes. Tyler Bannister Photography has 5 elegant dresses and gowns to choose from to wear at your maternity session. You are welcome to bring your own outfits to suit your personal style where I can provide styling advice to help you choose outfits that photograph beautifully.
Q: What should I wear for maternity photos?
A: Neutral coloured clothing such as flowing dresses and fitted gowns in cream, beige, white, grey, and earthy tones photograph beautifully, but this will also depend on the chosen backdrop colour. Your session will include a mix of mid-range and full-length images, so it’s important to consider your full outfit when planning what to wear. Above all, choose clothing that you feel comfortable and confident in and that highlights your bump. I recommend avoiding busy patterns, big logos and characters, and bright colours. If you would like to discuss outfit choices in more detail, please contact Tyler Bannister Photography.
Q: Can my partner and children be included in the maternity session?
A: Absolutely. Partners and siblings are encouraged to join your maternity session. Please let me know when booking that you'd like to have your partner and children included.
Q: How long does a maternity photography session last?
A: Most maternity sessions last 1 hour, allowing time for 1-3 outfit changes.
Q: What if I feel awkward in front of the camera?
A: That’s completely normal. Our sessions are relaxed and gently guided to help you feel comfortable. I will demonstrate poses, and with your permission move you slightly to capture the best possible photographs.
Q: Can maternity sessions be done outdoors?
A: Not with Tyler Bannister Photography who specialises in studio photography only.
Q: Will there be time for me to do my make-up and style my hair at the maternity session?
A: No. Please arrive as ready as you can be for the session with your make-up and hair styled as you wish it to be photographed.
Q: Do I need to paint my nails for the maternity session?
A: I recommend either, painting your nails (fingers and toes) in a neutral colour or having clean cut, shaped and filed finger and toe nails.
Q: What should I bring to my maternity photography session?
A: I recommend bringing:
-
Neutral undergarments and a strapless bra
-
A few outfit options, including a timeless fitted black dress
-
Ultrasound photos or meaningful baby items
-
Water and snacks if needed
Q: How soon will we receive our maternity photos?
A: Your soft-edited newborn preview gallery is delivered within 1 week after your session. Once you have selected your image package and payment has been received, your final gallery will be ready within 2 weeks for download, printing, and sharing.
